Debbie Crane Aliseda has filed as Place One candidate for the May 14th McAllen School Board election. An active community and school volunteer, Crane Aliseda presently is PTO President for both McAllen High School and Pablo Perez Elementary School. She also presently serves on the McAllen Site Based Committee for M.I.S.D., Superintendent's Parental Advisory Committee and is the Chairperson/Facilitator for the Parental Engagement Committee at Perez Elementary. She has previously served as PTA treasurer at Morris Middle School, PTO Treasurer at Perez Elementary School and directed annual school fund raising carnivals at Gonzalez and Perez Elementary Schools.
In addition, she has served on the board of Mujeres Unidas and has been an active member of the McAllen Junior League, McAllen Citizen's League and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, along with having been a volunteer in McAllen Teen Court. Debbie previously owned and managed Harrison's Factory Outlet stores in McAllen, Weslaco, Harlingen and Brownsville for ten (10) years. A product of McAllen schools herself, she has three children attending McAllen public schools and a fourth, age 3, at home. Debbie is the daughter of Baudelia and Robert Crane and daughter-in-law of Laura and Jose L. Aliseda, M.D. all of McAllen.
Crane Aliseda's family is certainly no stranger to public service. She is married to former State District Judge, Ernest Aliseda, who is presently a Municipal Judge for the City of McAllen, the Managing Attorney for Loya Insurance Group, a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves, and a recent appointee by the Governor to the Texas Military Preparedness Commission, after his return from an active duty military tour. Her brother-in-law, Jose Aliseda, is currently a State Representative and is himself a former Navy Officer, Bee County Judge, County Attorney and former Gubernatorial appointee to the State Board of Pardon's and Paroles.
Her brother, Randy Crane, has served on the school district's Facilities Advisory Committee and is a U.S. District Judge in McAllen for the Southern District of Texas. Her other brother Scott Crane, a McAllen businessman, served many years on the McAllen Economic Development Council and is a McAllen City Commissioner. He also serves ex-officio on the McAllen Public Utility Board and represents McAllen on the Hidalgo County Metropolitan Planning Organization. Her sister, Audrie Crane, also a community volunteer, manages Carwash/Carwash in McAllen, Weslaco and Harlingen.
Crane Aliseda said that reduced revenues and other factors are forcing many changes on the District and she hopes to keep the focus on increasing student retention, while raising secondary student performance. |
